| 抄録: | The notion of function is crucial to explain both artifacts and biological things. They are, however, different in intentionality: the former seems to be related to agent’s intention while the latter does not. This article discusses the relationship among intention, goal and function and then proposes a unified definition of functions of artifacts and natural things including biological organs. |
